Career and university

Through the St Catherine’s careers program, girls research a variety of courses to help them make informed decisions about their future. Almost exclusively, all students who complete their HSC continue on to University.

The trends

The majority of St Catherine's Year 12 students plan to continue their education and training, with around 95% per cent of students gaining a place at university.

Many girls choose to study in Sydney, where universities have highly competitive entry criteria. University of Sydney and the University of NSW are always popular choices. Others move further afield, accepting places to universities in the ACT, Victoria, the UK and the USA. In today's globally connected world, the number of students applying to overseas universities, particularly to the US and UK, is increasing each year.

Having received an education best suited to their individual talents, we see girls choose a diverse range of subjects. Popular courses include, commerce/business/economics, media and communications, arts, sciences, law, medicine, psychology, built environment, design, animal and vet bioscience, engineering, and international studies.

We help girls identify the best post-school path for them, one that will challenge and inspire their areas of interest."
