New Houses for St Cath's

Academic care at St Catherine’s is taking an evolutionary step forward next year with the introduction of two new houses.

The announcement was made at assembly this morning and the girls will be able to nominate themselves to become Foundation members. The move is part of an ongoing process of enhancing our Academic Care program. Currently, students from K-12 belong to one of five houses and within each house, the mentor groups that underpin our Academic Care program are formed for each year group.

Headmistress Dr Julie Townsend said the girls remained in the same mentor group from Year 7-12 which builds a wonderful relationship with their peers. “The new houses will mean our mentor and house groups will become smaller and will allow mentors to gain an even deeper understanding of the needs of each student.”

The new houses will be called ‘Patterson’ and ‘Phillips’, named after past headmistresses and girls selected to become members will be invited to design the house crest and take part in house elections in Term 3.

Dr Townsend said, “The addition of the two new houses is a significant change for St Catherine’s School and we look forward to exciting times ahead.”
