Music to remember

What's the sum total of three months of rehearsals, 54 musicians, a large team of parents and staff and a very big bus? It's the St Catherine's School ANZAC Music Tour on an adventure through the Netherlands, Belgium, France and England, and it was a huge success!

There was some plenty of excitement for everyone. From the windmills of Amsterdam, chocolate-making in Belgium, and a West End musical in London; the girls agenda was brimming over with activities and learning experiences.

Members of choir, orchestra, band and the string ensemble wowed audiences at every destination. One of the many highlights of the tour was performing as part of the ANZAC Day commemorations. In France the girls gave a spectacular performance at the rekindling of the flame of remembrance at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, before heading to London for another three outstanding performances. The first was at Australia House followed by an early start to play at the Dawn Service in Hyde Park. The tour concluded with a mighty performance at the awe-inspiring Westminster Abbey.

The music tour was an amazing opportunity for St Catherine’s musicians to experience the rich history and culture of Europe, and to represent their school and country at the highest level. We would like to thank the students, their families and all the staff for their hard work and dedication.
