Year 12 Career Conversations

‚ÄčIn Week 4 we welcomed Yael Perkes (Harrison) OG2005 and Stephanie Farah OG2005 back to St Catherine's to speak with our Year 12 students for our Career Conversations morning. This is part of our series of Year 12 engagement programs. Now in its second year, we are really excited to continue these sessions with Year 12 to help give them some guidance for life after St Cath's.

Yael and Stephanie, both K-12 survivors, spoke honestly and openly with the students about their career journeys. Yael started her career in PR and marketing with top agencies including Sweaty Betty PR and the Trish Nicol Agency. She has now found her passion for technology and is currently working for Google as a Partner Lead. Stephanie similarly began her career in events and business development, working for the SCG and Allianz Stadium, and as NRL sales manager for Matchpoint. After a period of travel in her late 20s, Stephanie has consolidated her sales skills and is now excelling in the real estate industry working for various high-profile Sydney agencies.

These dynamic women spoke of their triumphs and pitfalls, and offered advice on everything from seeking out work experience opportunities while still studying to utilising the many connections they have through friends and family. The students especially loved to hear their stories of travel in between studying and working along with the advice that it's ok not to know what you want to do after school.

We look forward to our next session with Year 12 in a few weeks' time where we will hear from Jaime Laird OG2009 who has launched her own business, Kiin Yoga, running yoga and meditation classes for corporate groups. Jaime will tell her story and will then take the girls through a guided meditation exercise to help prepare their minds for their upcoming exams.
