We’ve been saying it for a while and now it’s official. St Catherine’s is one of Australia’s most innovative schools to use technology to enhance learning outcomes. During the holidays, the School was named as a finalist in the ELH SchoolTech Award for Innovation 2014, a major IT in education award.
Industry veteran and head of the judging panel, Mr Bruce Dixon said the awards attracted more than 50 applications. “The initiative was developed to inspire schools to continue improving education outcomes by harnessing the power of technology,” he said.
Head of information, Mr Paul Carnemolla said, “To be recognised as a finalist in such an award is testament to the commitment of the staff and the achievements of the students. The focus of our ICT for Learning program is to improve learning efficiency with innovative techniques and technology, so our approach was a good fit for the award criteria with its strong focus on learning outcomes.”
Headmistress, Dr Julie Townsend said “we want our girls to be well educated, well rounded global citizens, who use technology effectively to enhance whatever work they do. I am delighted that in being considered for this Award our aim to use technology to underpin and support our pedagogy has been recognised.”
The winner will be announced on 17 August and will receive a $5,000 cash prize. If we are successful we plan to buy a 3D printer for the girls. Good luck St Cath's!
