St Cath’s girls shine even brighter in gold

Three of our talented girls, along with their water polo team, the UNSW Wests Killer Whales have been crowned the 16 and under national champions! The team successfully defeated Sydney rivals, the Drummoyne Devils, 13 - 9 in Hobart. A fantastic result for the UNSW Wests Killer Whales, and a big congratulations to team members Ellena Little, Jasmin Sardi and Ruby Swadling, who was also named captain for UNSW Killer Whales team.

Ruby Swadling shared:

"It was pleasing to walk away with the gold medal after the team had worked so hard in the build-up. It was a really hard fought game, we came out with a strong start but Drummoyne kept coming, so we just had to keep matching the intensity. This has been a really good tournament and we were lucky to go through undefeated – we just took it game by game."

The St Catherine's Girls were undefeated throughout the six-day tournament, which saw more than 300 competitors across 25 clubs battle it out for the title. The girls aim to add to their success as they now look towards the Term 4 IGSSA competition.
