Salut! Greetings from Noumea

How lucky are we! Over the July holidays a group of 17 St Catherine's French students from Year 8 and Year 9 travelled to New Caledonia with teachers Mrs Leggat and Mrs Rosen. We had a week to study French just by soaking up the culture of this beautiful Pacific island.

The girls attended Ecole Voltaire every morning for immersion French lessons - we only spoke and listened to French the whole time. Then we used our enhanced language skills while out and about in the local shops and restaurants. We had a taste of real life as we navigated our way around the local markets and supermarkets to buy our food for dinner. Our afternoon outings to snorkel or to the cultural centre to discover some local history or even just to shop were all fantastic opportunities for all of us to practise our French.

Sydney was freezing while we were strolling in the balmy sunshine and felt like the luckiest girls (and teachers) alive!
