Reconnecting with old friends

Excited Year 4 students were welcoming hosts to 46 Old Girls who attended the annual Jane Barker Luncheon this week.

Year groups from 1940 – 1965 were represented and many memories were shared, including one from an Old Girl who enroled as a boarder at the age of 5 - she is one of our youngest boarders ever!

The current St Catherine's girls helped out by setting the luncheon tables before mingling with their predecessors. They were able to see the connection that the Old Girls still have with the School and experience the strong bonds of friendship that were formed here.

They could barely contain their excitement as the Class of 1965 arrived and told them about the daily 'bloomer inspection' they had endured as students.

With 50+ years of gossip to catch up on, the luncheon was a lively event and we were glad to see our Old Girls here - in the place where they lived, learnt and grew into strong, independent women of the world.

Reconnect with your old friends by joining the Old Girls Union here.

Read a personal reflection of the event in a new blog post by St Catherine's Archivist and Old Girl, Mrs Evangeline Galettis.
