Proud parents and staff celebrated the official induction of our new student leadership team for 2014/2015.
The 20 Prefects and seven Vice-Captains were formally inducted at our annual induction assembly on Tuesday 14 October.
This year we introduced two new prefect roles, Chapel Prefect and Deputy Head Girl as well as House and Vice Captains for the new Houses, Philips and Patterson. The girls were also excited to be the first to sign a new Prefect register; a leather bound book to be kept in the museum for generations to come. After the recital of the prefect pledge, our Senior Concert Band magnificently performed Fate of the Gods by Steven Reineke, a fitting piece for such a wonderful and momentous occasion.
Chairman of the School Council Reverend Simon Roberts spoke of the importance of caring and leadership, commenting that one “can’t lead without serving, and service of others is a powerful form of leadership”. He went on to say “the exercise of leadership is not so much about having a title or occupying a position of power, but about having a positive impact on people - using power and opportunities for the good of others.”
Reverend Roberts encouraged the girls to consider the words of another great leader, Jesus “for even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
We look forward to working with the Prefects and House Vice-Captains and wish them all the best as they serve and lead the girls through 2015.
