Oh what a night in The Secret Garden

What a magnificent production we were treated to last week as we were invited into The Secret Garden.

The incredibly talented cast including Jessica Nearne (Year 9) who shone as the contrary Mary Lennox and Lucinda Edwards (Year 9) sublime as her ghostly aunt Lily. The acting skill with tricky Yorkshire accents –  ten points to Isabella Meyrick (Year 9) who sounded as if she had come straight off the moors. The wonder of the sets and stagecraft, turning from Victorian drawing room to walled garden before our very eyes. The props expertly manoeuvred by stagehands cleverly dressed as downstairs staff of a grand country house.

Every single cast member took our breath away from the magical dancing of the Robin (Caitlin Lamb, Year 8) to the mystery of India in Mary's Ayah played by Saranya Agar (Year 11). And the boys! The Scots College is growing some fine young performers with Jordan Dulieu (Archibald Craven), Oscar Lawland (Dr Craven) and Rory O'Keefe (the young Colin) standout performances.

The music performed by the combined St Cath's and Scots orchestras, conducted by St Cath's Mr David Gresham, was simply wonderful.

There's not enough space here nor words to describe this sensational performance. Huge congratulations to all the cast, musicians, stage crew and every helping hand.

You all did a truly splendid job.
