Lizzie Welborn has been awarded NSW Youth Athlete of the Year for 2014-15 by NSW Surf Life Saving. Lizzie has also been nominated for the National Youth Athlete Award which will be awarded on 24 October 2015. Two weeks ago, Lizzie competed for the Australian Youth Team at the International Surf Rescue Championships where Australia won, beating both New Zealand and the US. This was a amazing experience and opportunity for her. She had some fantastic races and great wins. Lizzie then competed this weekend in the Kellogg's Nutri-grain Ironwoman series trials at Alexandra Headlands on the Sunshine Coast where she raced 2 rounds (4 races) on the Saturday and 1 round (2 races) on the Sunday. There were 39 competitors in total, all racing for just 3 spots. Lizzie finished 1st in the first round, 3rd in the second round and 2nd in the 3rd round which meant she came first overall in the point score earning one of the treasured three spots. Lizzie will be the youngest competitor in this seasons Nutri Grain Series. Congratulations to St Catherine's own rising star in Surf Life Saving! Mr Ryan CameronDirector of Sport
