'Wow, wow, wow! For a wide-eyed Year 7 girl and her family it was really the stuff that dreams are made of.' This feedback really encapsulated the spirit and enthusiasm of Clubs and Choirs. With well over 1000 people present, and all of the senior school involved, the girls outdid themselves. Our community listened in absolute awe to the clever and inspiring speakers, uplifting and toe-tapping songs, followed by a standing ovation for our superb xylophone player Year 12 student, Sophie Gordon.
The Year 12 choir were literally golden and showered the audience with colour. Their passion and joy was clear for all to see and it will be a hard act to follow in 2016, our 160th year. The winning house on the night was Sutherland with a rendition of I Know Where I’ve Been composed by Marc Shaiman. They were ably led by Nici Parry of Year 11, who was also one of the MC’s for the event.
The Junior Public Speaking winner was Alexandra Bradley of Year 9 from Hulme-Moir. She gave a thought provoking speech that ranged from the personal to the global. The Senior Public Speaking winner was Maggie Hill of Year 12 from Bronte, who added great humour to her speech.
