Character strengths shine at Blue Gum Lodge

The first three days of March saw Year 4 girls and their teachers taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the beautiful Blue Mountains. Character strengths were at the fore each day as our girls navigated, climbed, cooked, danced, sang, swam and played. Daily Christian Discovery sessions and 'Hunt the Good Stuff' journal writing added to the richness of the camp program. Memorable moments included a surprise visit from Ms Guy, three visits from the tooth fairy and a birthday celebration, including flowers, gifts and cake. A walk to the viewing platform of the Three Sisters and a picnic at Katoomba were wonderful highlights for all.

I loved camp. My favourite activity was climbing the low ropes. It was a hard activity but I persevered and got to the top with help from my team. That made me proud and happy.

My favourite activities were navigation and swimming. My group showed great teamwork as we used our map to find the yellow markers. I loved swimming with my friends too.

I especially liked prusiking and navigation. My group was very cooperative and we were able to use our maps to easily locate the markers. I liked listening to the laugh of the kookaburras in the morning. The bush cooking experience was wonderful, although I wasn't quite so keen on the damper!
