Best in the east

St Catherine's has achieved its best ever IGGSA result. As this year's competition came to an end last weekend we finished a fantastic 4th overall.

Best in the east

This result leaves St Catherine's as the top school in the eastern suburbs for sport. The placing is a huge endorsement for the many talented and committed athletes at St Catherine's and our experienced and skilled coaching staff led by the head coaches and the full time sports staff. The support of the parents and the vision of our Headmistress Dr Townsend are key ingredients for our best ever result.

See how we moved
Many years ago we were ranked in the 20's, in 2012 we moved into the top 10 for the first time, last year we moved into 5th position and now we are in 4th place of 27 independent schools at IGSSA - after averaging the finishing places for all seven IGSSA carnivals. We are one of only seven of the 27 IGSSA schools who contested every IGSSA carnival!

Understanding the table

The overall finishing places are based on the average carnival positions from the seven IGSSA carnivals. The table allows for the school/s that don’t compete in a carnival to gain an average score for that carnival. For example, if only 24 schools compete the three schools who didn’t compete get 25+26+27=78 / 3 = 26 . So the three non competing schools get 26.

Well done everybody, it's been a wonderful season and we are so proud and happy with the result.
