With a bus full of instruments our Sinfonietta Strings and Concert Band headed west on Wednesday to present a concert to the students of St Marys North Public School. The girls created a world of magic performing 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' and had the St Marys North students captivated as they told the story of Peer Gynt's escape from stampeding trolls with 'In the Hall of the Mountain King'.
The children were introduced to the instruments of an orchestra and performed 'One Bottle of Pop' with us, while one lucky St Marys North girl had the chance to conduct the girls as they played.
The day finished with the two schools having lunch together while St Marys North showed us their music and art projects (created as part of their Music and Art program from the ACO).
The St Marys North music exchange is part of the innovative partnership between St Catherine's and the Australian Chamber Orchestra and is funded through the generosity of St Cath's parents.
