A strong result for St Cath's at the IGSSA Cross Country Carnival

St Catherine's cross country team (our largest yet of 45 girls) headed down to Frenscham in Bowral last Friday for the annual IGSSA Cross Country Carnival.

Things were off to the best possible start with Jessica Meagher winning the first race of the day in the 12s age group, followed by Ruby Madden winning the very next race, the 13s, against 170 other girls. This great momentum continued throughout the day with some other outstanding results including:

  • Ruby Swadling coming 5th  in the 16s
  • Anna Grimmond coming 8th in a long and tough race of 6km
  • Our 12s age group including Jessica Meagher, Eleanor Hodnett and Chilli Karsay winning a gold medal
  • The 13s age group coming second with Ruby Madden, Milly Cooper and Zidan Santos-Dwyer winning a silver medal

This year we placed 5th overall - our best overall score for the past five years. 12 girls have qualified to represent IGSSA at the CIS carnival, this is also the best result we've ever received.

Of course next year with more runners and even harder training we hope to have an even more outstanding team!

I'd like to say a huge thank you to Georgina, Nicola, Manon, the Sport Department and especially Lachie (Mr Lachlan Youll, Head of strength and conditioning) for their hard work and support throughout this long and successful season.

A big congratulations to everyone on their amazing efforts. You've made us all proud!
