Purpose and values

Our purpose is to develop young women of character and intellect who are equipped to make their unique contribution to the world.

VALUES 

 

The core values of our school are integrity, resilience, respect, relationships and service. At St Catherine's we recognise the importance of having a fulfilled and purposeful life.​

•Integrity is demonstrated through honesty, fair-mindedness and acting in accordance with sound ethical principles. The power of personal integrity enriches and strengthens our community, and ultimately our society.

• Resilience enables us to rebound from adversity with optimism for the future. It gives us the courage to embrace challenge, make hard decisions and persevere in difficult circumstances. Resilience gives us the strength of character to stand up for our beliefs in the face of opposition.

• Respect is the foundation of strong relationships, enabling us to treat others with consideration and dignity. Within our community respect, encouragement and mutual care are fostered, and our diverse backgrounds, skills and contributions are celebrated.​

• Relationships lie at the heart of all interactions. Strong relationships are good for our health and wellbeing, enabling us to feel valued and value the contributions of others. They also help buffer us when life is difficult. We cherish the relationships central to our community, and value the cooperative, constructive interactions vital for effective, inclusive participation in our global society.

• Service is love in action, as shown to us in the person of Jesus Christ. Considering the needs of others, with an attitude of compassion and generosity, enables us to develop our own sense of belonging while building connections with others. Service strengthens communities, builds character and improves others’ and our own wellbeing.​
